Finally competition has arrived for the Tata Nano car, which is India's cheapest car selling under 3000 US$. Bajaj Auto Ltd; world's second largest motor cycle maker unveiled a new car today. The car or AutoRiksha, named as RE-60 has 200 cc, rear mounted low emission engine and a fuel efficiency of between 35 to 40 Km per litre. The engine is a new water cooled DTSi 4 (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) valve and would give a maximum speed of 70km per hour.
The managing director of Bajaj Auto says that he may export this car first to SriLanka before selling it to India. The car has such low emission that it emits only 60 grams of carbon-di-oxide gas per km.
The engine for the car is state-of-the-art and environment friendly. The car is frugally engineered and would be produced at three-wheeler plant in Aurangabad, in the coming months.
Bajaj Auto ltd. have not announced the price yet, which is not likely to be crucial factor if India's Nano experience is recollected. The Nano sales numbers are no where near expectations and present two wheeler owners have simple refused to change over to a four wheeler. The Nano has therefore become just one of the choices for second car.
That is why perhaps Bajaj Auto chairman wants to sell his car in SriLanka and not in India, where selling is likely to be very tough.
टाटा मोटर्स बनवत असलेल्या नॅनो कारला आता खरीखुरी स्पर्धक निर्माण झाली आहे. नॅनो ही गाडी भारतातली सर्वात स्वस्त मोटरगाडी आहे व तिची किंमत 1 ते सव्वा लाख रुपयांच्या घरात आहे. जगात द्वितिय क्रमांकावर असलेले मोटर सायकल उत्पादक बजाज ऑटो लिमिटेड या कंपनीने बनवलेली आपली नवीन कार किंवा ऑटोरिक्षा आज लोकांना प्रदर्शित केली. य़ा कारचे नाव त्यांनी RE 60 असे ठेवले असून या गाडीट असणारे इंजिन 200 सीसी क्षमतेचे, मागच्या बाजूस बसवलेले असणार आहे. या गाडीची इंधनक्षमता 35 ते 40 किमी प्रति लिटर एवढी असून ती जास्तीत जास्त 70 किमी गतीने धावू शकेल. बजाज ऑटो कंपनीने संपूर्णत: विकसित केलेल्या या गाडीची 4 उतारूंना वाहून नेण्याची क्षमता आहे.
बजाज ऑटो कंपनीच्या संचालकांनी घोषणा केली की ही गाडी प्रथम श्रीलंकेमधे भारताच्या आधी विक्रीस ठेवली जाण्याची शक्यता आहे. या गाडीतून उत्सर्जित होणारे प्रदुषण इतके कमी आहे की एका किमीला फक्त 60 ग्रॅम कर्बद्विप्राणिल वायू यातून बाहेर फेकला जातो. ही गाडी पर्यावरणास पूरक व अत्याधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाने विकसित केली गेली आहे. अतिशय कमी खर्चात ही गाडी कंपनीच्या औरंगाबाद कारखान्यात पुढच्या काही महिन्यात उत्पादित केली जाईल.
बजाज ऑटो कंपनीने या गाडीच्या किंमतीची अजून तरी घोषणा केलेली नाही. परंतु टाटा कंपनीच्या नॅनो विक्रीचा मागच्या वर्षातला अनुभव लक्षात घेतला तर गाडीची किंमत हा अजिबातच ऐरणीवरचा मुद्दा नाहीये. नॅनो गाडीची विक्री अपेक्षेपेक्षा खूपच कमी होते आहे. याचे एक प्रमुख कारण असे आहे की ज्यांच्यासाठी ही गाडी विकसित केली गेली होती त्या दुचाकीधारकांनी आपली दुचाकी काढून त्या जागी नॅनो चौचाकी आणण्याचा बदल करण्यास फारशी अनुकुलता दर्शविली नाही. नॅनो आता विकली जाते आहे ती प्रामुख्याने आता दुसरी गाडी म्हणून. या दुसर्‍या गाडीसाठी असलेल्या अनेक विकल्पांत नॅनो हा एक विकल्प आहे असेच आता दिसते.
कदाचित याच कारणामुळे बजाज ऑटो कंपनी त्यांची ही गाडी भारताऐवजी प्रथम श्रीलंकेत विकणार असावेत.
